Back to school today
To fill the mind
Doesn't seem bothered
Just gentle and kind
Likes to be ready
Both her room and class
Get out of her way
No course she won't pass
She studies so quietly
Hardly seems she's there
Like an old, old cat
As if having no care
But her daddy knows better
Success won't travel alone
It only follows along with
Someone worked to the bone
Grew up so fast
Especially the past year
So hesitant before
Now less and less fear
I watch so proudly
As she makes her own way
But always with me
Tomorrow and today
I hope it stays this way
But gets better for her
She deserves no limits
And no barriers for sure
If I could give her it all
She'd get all that I could
But she won't take it that way
Earns it herself or it's no good
I want someday
When her own goes to school
Like me she will feel
This love bigger, ever more true
