Many people you meet
Friends some will be
Which ones ever
You never can see
The first friend of child
So powerful and strong
If they could stay
Life would be long
Some blast into your life
So important for a time
But the interest fails
When they impose on your time
Others act like they're friends
But no commitment to spare
So in truth they are not
In truth they don't care
Some would be real
But life takes them away
Good friends they'd've been
In some other day
With very little fortune
And no needed fame
Real friends come along
And they play no game
They know what you mean
Doesn't matter what you say
They are your friends
No matter the day
You don't have to ask
You don't have to plead
They are there all along
More than a Creed
A real friend will be there
Like a wife thick and thin
Even when you are wrong
They just offer a grin
They're there when you need
What that is is no worry
You don't have to say
Thanks or I'm sorry
But am I a good friend?
Did I help my friends grow?
Did I give that all back?
I hope that they know
I hope that I did
And they can say that they see
I matched all of my friends
Like my friends did for me
