Lucky Boy

Scott Whitby, 2023

Maggie has a baby

We finally get to see

He’s a lucky boy

But what will he ever be?

A baseball player that sings

Or a singer who can pitch?

Or neither one of those

It doesn’t matter which

He’ll grow up big and loved

He’ll learn right from wrong

He’ll learn to tie his shoes

And hear the greatest songs

He’s a lucky boy

But I have to wonder whether

He’ll hear a plain ol’ lullaby

Or the one about the feather?
