No Body

Scott Whitby, 2022

Nobody could know

One word or two

No body was there

But two women who

Would tell us all

Who would hear

Start this thing

About no fear

A mama being mama

Her bag by the door

How could she sleep

And not pace the floor?

But nobody would know

That no body was there

And were it not for His mom

Nobody would care

Nobody found no body

Was she up all night?

When she found no body

Too strong to cry

Nobody found no body

She knew He was alive

When she found no body

Was she really surprised?

A mama being mama

Her bag by the door

How could she sleep

And not pace the floor?

But nobody would know

That no body was there

And were it not for His mom

Nobody would care

Did she know?

Who's to say

What she knew

Early that day?

Told everyone

Quiet and serene

After sunrise

What she'd seen

With fear and joy

The story had come

Words from an angel

Made for a mom

A mama being mama

Her bag by the door

How could she sleep

And not pace the floor?

But nobody would know

That no body was there

And were it not for His mom

Nobody would care
